"We firmly believe that our son's transformation would not have been

possible without the support we received from Community Partnerships.

They have helped bring the joy of parenthood back into our lives and

helped write a happy ending to the first chapter of his life."

--Jim & Patty Sherman

Our Work
CPI provides direct services to children and adults with developmental
disabilities, adults with brain injuries, and at-risk youth. The CPI team
is made up of experienced therapists, job coaches, support brokers, and
other professionals who are responsible for delivering critical services
to over 2,000 people each year. The impact of CPI's work is far-reaching,
helping to shape local economies, workforces, and communities in Wake, Durham, and Wayne Counties.

Our Impact
In the 2008-2009 fiscal year:

  • 200 people with disabilities pursued career opportunities in
their communities. Local businesses hired qualified employees who
earned a combined salary of $852,000 and reduced their
    dependency on government assistance.

  • Over 250 children with disabilities were welcomed into classrooms
and daycares with their more typically-developing peers—and were
not segregated into programs for kids with “special” needs.

  • Over 450 children and adults with disabilities (and their families)
found needed medical care, transportation, housing, and
opportunities to participate in their communities.

  • Nearly 200 young people living in poverty and experiencing additional
risk factors worked to complete their educations, develop critical
workplace skills, and began building careers.
